It’s been over five days since the surgery and progress has good in some areas and not so good in others.

Mobility

Overall, Improvement has been good and I’m able to move around, albeit in discomfort, and I’m now able to shower. Standing for a short time is still difficult and I soon need to sit or lay down. A lot of time is still spent resting in bed.

Pooping

The stoma was given an inspection yesterday and looks healthy but apart from gas is largely inactive. We’re still in normal territory and it can take anything from a day to a week to start working again. A tiny bit of poop did seep out last night and boy did it stink! When it fills up Bowel Town may have to be temporarily evacuated!

My Ken Bum

With the dressing now fully removed I’m able to get a better look at my new Ken Bum and it’s weird looking! Even though it looks healthy it currently feels like I’ve got a very bad case of runners chafing. I’m also convinced that I can sense movement of some kind down there but that could just be phantom movements like when you lose a limb.

Pain

The pain has been pretty consistent getting worse when I do certain things and better when I do other things but overall it has been getting better. But then yesterday I started to develop an excruciating burning sensation in my abdomen and I’ve no idea what’s causing it.

I’ve been trying to control the pain with morphine but I’m hoping that a doctor visits today. My body has been through a lot and it’s probably nothing but need reassuring.

Steven Update

Steven kept up his visits yesterday with a few throughout the day including when I had guests. We really need to stop teasing him though.
