After waking up with a temperature of 39C and an early morning visit from the surgical registrar not really revealing anything new, I was just hoping that the antibiotics I was taking would fix things. He decided to adjust the approach and set me up with two different hardcore antibiotics — the type used for serious infections such as meningitis and pneumonia — which I would start to take later in the day.

He said that he would take a look at the Ken Butt the following day. I’ve had some concerns about it as there has been some discharge and it was still painful to sit down but I didn’t mention anything.

Probing the Ken Butt

Later in the afternoon the surgical registrar along with my surgeon paid me a visit with the sole purpose of taking a look at the butt. It quickly became apparent through a painful examination that there was an infection present. With a stitch removed and my surgeon probing my Ken Butt, the bed was soon covered in pus! He continued to drain it and then packed it up.

This could well be the source of the temperature and with combined with the new antibiotics things could be brought under control.

When Will I Go Home?

Good question. It’s not known right now but I can expect to be here for another few days ? It’s true I’m in the right place but I could really do with a good nights sleep in my own bed.
